Perhaps because Males have turned women’s nipples & breasts into desired sexual objects?

I have fought for womens rights all my life. I dont understand this either. Men have boob and nipples. Wtf is the difference. I am all for topless at the beach, great to see women standing up, free the nipples, its 2026 ffs.

Completely understand what you're saying ... You have boobs and nipples and l have boobs and nipples . Difference is yours are much more attractive ' shapier and usually much bigger nipples ... In other words yours make a statement where mine do not... Therein lays the unfair judgement ppl make..
Mind you ' I'm all for women wanting to bare their breasts at the beach if she so desires.. To me , it's very feminine and unintuitive.. lm all for equality....Andrea_Sydney

Fair question and at the same time not.
Women’s breasts and nipples are sexual in this culture. That’s not just a male view, that’s also the female view. I personally love (!) breast and nipples stimulation and find it highly arousing and such play is seen as sexual in our culture.
I don’t know many men who find having their nipples stimulated arousing and not many women who want to play with men’s nipples in a sexual context. Also, you can touch a man’a nipples, for example by accident brushing past them at a pool bar, and it will not be seen as a sexual touch.
It is customary in any culture to cover body parts that have a culturally sexual connotation. Australia is not an outlier. On the contrary, Australia is only “prudish” in comparison to a tiny number of countries, such as Sweden, Germany or Finland, where nudity doesn’t always have a sexual context. But even here, nudity is only accepted in the socially common context, such as saunas or dedicated nudist beaches.
And yes, I’m aware of some tribes in Africa or South America where people are nude/women go topless without sexual connotation. But again, tiny number of people in international comparison.
Breast feeding is socially acceptable in most cultures, including ours, as there is no sexual connotation in this context. Women who cover up for breast feeding do so out of unwritten social contracts.
I disagree this is sexist or misogyny. Those are simply cultural norms.MsSuperFoxy

They only became controversial when someone decided to make them a spectacle.
They nourish babies and at nude beaches they’re simply part of the human body, which suggests the issue isn’t anatomy, but perception.

I recently In Germany women may now go topless same as men at the public pools

Why? Because men have sexualised women's bodies since the dawn of time and just because women have bigger mammary glands for breastfeeding they are somehow deemed offensive to bare in public. To be fair, there are a lot of men who go topless in public who I wish we could say to them it's offensive and to put a top on 🤣

Alternatively with the boom in micrometer thin women’s active wear which basically only colours what’s underneath so basically nude, I wonder if men uptook this trend would there be an uproar.
Imagine being able to see those balls hugged tight and every vein popping on those girthy blokes. Surely there’s no difference than seeing every fold of labia. I mean personally I like the view but then I do have young kids so I’m not quite sure this liberation is really good in all settings.73bandit

It's called conforming into submission, as soon as a person's told not to they simply roll over and do what they're told . So very sad people refuse to fight for rights .

My opinion they are not. They are sexualised in our culture in Australia. The offensive part would be all the males who could not get over it and stare or get visibly aroused. Cultural change takes time and their is no reason not to start!

Let's not forget a lot of women don't want you looking at their breasts. Remember the whole "my eyes are up here" thing?
I think most men are happy for a little alluring mystery there, and most women are happy to keep them as that tooRuggedlyRugged

There’s people like us, then there’s people that are wound too tight. Unfortunately those wound too tight, easily offended or just plain objectionable seem to influence the rules.

You have to blame Victorian religious values in Western culture. Even more strict in Muslim cultures.
