How to prevent UTI after awesome sex

October 14 2025

Hey there.
We dare to say that we have pretty awesome sex. In some ways quite kinky, toys, lots of oral, often anal, but other than that fairly vanilla.

Especially after long oral sessions, my fiance tends to get UTI, which is extremely annoying for her because she loves it so much.

Both her and my hygiene is excellent, we very much look after our "bits" and keep them clean, also, we don't mix analsex with anything that goes into her vagina.
We are wondering if there is some "magic" thing that helps avoid UTI?
Do other couples (ladies) have similar issues?

During cunniligus, bacteria in the saliva and vagina, get pushed into the urethra due to the “mechanical action” of the mouth and tongue. The mechanical action & rubbing, can also irritate the urethral opening and make it more prone up bacterial infiltration & resultant infection.

Uramet taken daily works well, as do cranberry tablets.

So doctors will prescribe low dose antibiotics to be taken daily.

It’s also important to urinate as soon after sex as possible, to help flush out any bacteria pushed into the urethra.

I have tried all of the above - works well.

Has she tried high strength cranberry tablets?
Stay hydrated too, and the advice of many doctors is to urinate as soon after sex as possible to flush out any bacteria in the urethra.

Long long time ago when this first happen to me the doctor called it Honeymoonitis. He said that I needed to urinate after sex. Every time. I have followed his advice ever since and have never suffered from it again. You can do a search on it and it gives you all the information. Hope that helps.

Maybe you could try mouthwash a little before giving her oral too. If she is getting it more from oral, reducing any chance of bad bacteria in your mouth might help. Clean your tongue when brushing teeth may assist too.

Mouthwash is often available at play parties.

Probiotics for both of you may also assist. As they help maintain healthy bacteria.

But as all have said, pee after sex. That will often be enough for most people.

There is also now, a lot of emerging evidence & clinical studies, linking throat cancer to oral sex

Thanks to everyone for the responses. We are already doing the toothbrushing, and mouth washing and the peeing etc.... and also plenty of "Ural" drinks before and after. Might look into the mention "low dose antibiotics".

Hi, I was advised by my urologist to take Hiprex twice a day & vitamin C, which you can get both over the counter at a pharmacy. So far so good. He also said that the low dose antibiotics should only be used for a couple of months as long term use can cause lung fibrosis, I was taking Nitrofuratin. Of course sexual hygeine goes a long way & as others have said pee afterwards. Hope this helps.

There is something called hippies tablets, which, if u take with vitamin C tablet 500 mg twice a day, u can avoid UTI. We can try a couple of doses before and after sex.
These are not antibiotics, so do not kill good bugs. It just changes the pH of urine and don't not let bacteria grow.

This can be to do with estrogen levels too. Estrogen cream to the urethra and surrounds reduces UTIs - don't use the prescribed dise, you only need a pin head.
The other thing that really helps is Clinician's Flora Restore. It's amazing and keeps the bad bacteria at bay. These two products get to the heart of the problem.

    What never worked for me:
    D-Mannose
    Cranberry pills
    Baking soda in water
What temporarily works: Nitrofurantoin antibiotic on a chronic low dose.

It can be super frustrating when they become repeated and you're both trying everything you can. I haven't had one in a decade due to the probiotic and estrogen cream.

I don't work for or promote Clinicians in any capacity, it's just a great product.

I've heard cranberry juice helps but cannot verify this as I've never had UTI.
